The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has announced that fees for the 2026 Grade 7, June Ordinary, and Advanced Level public examinations will remain unchanged from previous years. This decision comes as preparations for the upcoming examination cycle are underway.

In a formal statement, ZIMSEC outlined that the unchanged fees will apply to candidates from both Government and private schools, as well as colleges. ZIMSEC’s public relations manager, Ms. Nicky Dhlamini, stressed the importance of this information for parents and guardians. She urged them to note that there has been no increase in examination charges.

“The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council has released the June Ordinary and Advanced Level examination fees for 2026,” she remarked. “Parents and guardians are implored to note that the fees have not been changed from previous years. They still remain the same.”

For the June 2026 examinations, the fees are set at US$24 per subject for Ordinary Level candidates and US$48 per subject for Advanced Level candidates. These amounts reflect a 55 percent Government subsidy that has been applied.

However, Ms. Dhlamini clarified that candidates sitting for the June examinations do not qualify for this subsidy. “June examinations are sat by candidates who are rewriting or supplementing their subjects, meaning they would have already benefited from the 55 percent Government subsidy during an earlier sitting,” she explained. “Therefore, for the June examinations, candidates do not qualify for the 55 percent subsidy and are required to pay full fees.”

Additionally, Grade 7 examination fees for 2026 are set at US$5 per term for candidates attending Government schools, council schools, and not-for-profit mission schools. In contrast, candidates from private schools and colleges will need to pay US$11.

ZIMSEC emphasized the need for parents, guardians, and schools to familiarize themselves with the details of the published fees. This measure aims to facilitate a smooth registration process for the 2026 examinations.

As the examination dates approach, the Council is keen to ensure that all stakeholders are well informed. By maintaining the current fee structure, ZIMSEC hopes to alleviate financial pressures on families while ensuring quality education continues.
