UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer Annatoria faced a hostile reception at the Maverick City Kingdom Tour concert held at Glamis Stadium last night.

Annatoria, who had initially been part of the concert lineup, withdrew from the event without explanation, alongside fellow gospel artists Takesure Zamar and Tembalami. Despite this, she made a surprise appearance on stage, but the move did not sit well with the audience.

The crowd, clearly displeased with her earlier no-show, booed and heckled the singer before she could perform. In an attempt to calm the situation, Annatoria urged the audience to act “like Christians” in Shona, saying, “Ayewa ngatiitei kunge maKristu hantika!” However, her plea failed to quiet the crowd.

She proceeded to sing the hymn “Mwari murizuva redu,” which translates to “God, you are our sun.” Despite her efforts, the audience’s reaction remained cold.

The concert also featured American gospel star Kirk Franklin, who addressed concerns about the event’s spiritual focus. Franklin emphasized that the concert was centered on preaching about Jesus Christ.

Annatoria has not yet commented on the incident, leaving many fans wondering about the reasons behind her initial withdrawal and the aftermath of the night’s events.
