Nyasha Reginald Mano, popularly known as Ras Pompy, has issued a stern demand to H-Metro, calling for an immediate retraction of what he describes as defamatory, false, and malicious allegations published against him.
The demand, articulated through his legal representatives D Mthombeni Legal Practitioners follows a publication by H-Metro that have allegedly caused significant harm to Ras Pompy’s reputation and personal life.
On 11 September 2023, H-Metro published an online banner titled “RAS POMPY BEDS FRIEND’S MOTHER” across all its social media platforms. This was followed by a detailed story in their newspaper the next day, headlined “RAS POMPY SUCKED IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE…CHANTER IN AFFAIR WITH FRIEND’S MOTHER”. According to Ras Pompy’s lawyers, these publications have led to widespread public ridicule and have severely tarnished his image.
Ras Pompy’s legal team has highlighted several key points in their letter to H-Metro:
False and Defamatory Claims: The banner and subsequent article allegedly insinuate that Ras Pompy was involved in an affair with his friend’s mother, a claim he vehemently denies.
The story was published without any attempt to verify the allegations with Ras Pompy, which his lawyers argue is a breach of journalistic ethics.
The publications have not only led to public insults and ridicule but have also caused distress among Ras Pompy’s family and professional circles. He has reportedly lost an endorsement deal and other business opportunities as a direct result of these allegations.
The letter demands that H-Metro immediately cease the publication of these defamatory statements and issue a public retraction. Ras Pompy’s lawyers emphasize that the failure to verify the allegations and the one-sided nature of the reporting have unjustly damaged his reputation.
