Harare — Talent Madungwe, a self-proclaimed prophet known for his controversial views, is set to be sentenced tomorrow, October 9, by the Magistrates Court in Epworth. The preacher faces charges related to violations of the Road Traffic Act, including negligent driving and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

Last week, Madungwe appeared before Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti and pleaded guilty to the charges. The incident in question occurred on August 6, 2024, at around 10 AM when Madungwe, driving along Airport Road in Hatfield, Harare, allegedly sideswiped a Nissan NP300, owned by Rutendo Kwinjo, while both vehicles were heading towards the city center. The minor collision caused damage to Kwinjo’s vehicle, which bears the registration number ACG 8313.

The court heard that Madungwe turned right onto the main road, resulting in the sideswipe. He was initially remanded out of custody on Wednesday, after the State, represented by prosecutor Nyamutswa, requested more time to amend the papers before proceeding with the case.

Madungwe, no stranger to controversy due to his unconventional religious claims, now faces legal consequences for his traffic offenses. His sentencing tomorrow is expected to provide closure to the case.
