The Zimbabwe Senior Women’s National Team, the Mighty Warriors, have started their training camp in Harare as they prepare for their crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola. The team is training at the ZESA Training Centre, focusing on sharpening their skills ahead of the two-legged tie.
The first leg of the qualifier will take place in Luanda, Angola, on February 20, while the second leg will be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on February 26.
Head Coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda is leading the preparations and is optimistic about the team’s chances.
“The players have shown exceptional commitment and passion from the onset,” she said. “Our focus is on building a cohesive unit that plays with heart and purpose. We are determined to make Zimbabwe proud and secure our spot in the Women’s AFCON.”

ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi also voiced his support for the team.
“We stand firmly behind our Mighty Warriors as they prepare for this vital encounter,” he said. “Their dedication to representing Zimbabwe with honour is truly commendable. As an Association, we are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure their success.”
The Mighty Warriors’ provisional squad includes a mix of experienced players and young talent. Some key players in the squad are midfielders Emmaculate Msipa, who plays in Israel, and Danai Bhobho, who plies her trade in Tanzania. Striker Yolanda Kanyai, based in Australia, is also expected to bring firepower to the attack.
