The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust provides two fully funded scholarships for students from developing countries who wish to pursue a taught master’s degree at SOAS University of London.

Eligible Programs:

Any full-time master’s program offered by the College of Humanities, except:

  • MA Buddhist Studies
  • MA Buddhist Studies with Intensive Language
  • MA Traditions of Yoga and Meditation

Number of Scholarships:

Two (2)

Target Group:

They are residents of low-income or lower-middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank.

Scholarship Value and Duration:

Each scholarship, funded by the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust, is worth £32,500 and covers tuition fees.
Note: The scholarship does not include maintenance or accommodation costs.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Residency: Be a resident of a low-income or lower-middle-income country (World Bank definition), with preference given to those from low-income households.
  • Academic Achievement: Hold a first-class undergraduate degree.
  • Admission Status: Must apply to a master’s program at SOAS, though it is not necessary to be offered admission by the scholarship deadline. However, applicants must have received an offer before the scholarship selection panel reviews applications.
  • English Proficiency: Fulfil the English language requirements specified in their admission offer as soon as possible.
  • Exclusions: Scholarships do not cover funding or enrolment in pre-sessional courses.

Application Instructions:

  1. Submit a complete online application for your chosen master’s program at SOAS.
  2. Be aware that processing times for admissions applications can take up to 4 weeks, with up to 6 weeks during peak periods.
  3. Scholarship applications must be submitted by 12:00 pm (UK time) on February 7, 2025.
