Botswana is experiencing severe flooding as the country remains in its rainy season, forcing authorities to shut down several major roads. The flooding has made travel difficult, particularly for smaller vehicles, prompting warnings from officials.

Block 9 bridges are already closed, and the Gaborone/Kanye road along Block 9 may also be shut down soon. Molapo Crossing is completely closed off by the police, and the Segoditshane Road along the Western Bypass is in very bad condition,” he said.
Several other roads have also been impacted. The Maoka Junior Bridge has become impassable, while Jamali Road near Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital, leading to Tlokweng, has been closed. Authorities have also shut down the A1 road near BUAN due to rising water levels, further restricting movement in and out of the capital.
Sedigi urged motorists to drive cautiously and prioritize safety, particularly those transporting children. “We are particularly concerned about schoolchildren who went to school before the situation worsened. We urge parents to check on their children’s whereabouts and ensure they get home safely,” he added.
