Bulawayo police have arrested a 39-year-old man, Tigors Tyron Seigfried, for allegedly being in possession of 1,900 grams of crystal meth.
The illicit drugs were discovered at his residence in Chemford, Matshehlope, following a police operation.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Seigfried was taken into custody after authorities received intelligence about his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
A search of his home led to the recovery of the crystal meth, which has an estimated street value running into thousands of dollars.
Police have intensified their crackdown on drug-related crimes, with authorities reiterating their commitment to dismantling drug syndicates operating in Zimbabwe.
“The ZRP remains committed to eradicating drug abuse and illegal substances from our communities. We urge the public to report any suspicious activities to help us combat the spread of dangerous drugs,” said a police spokesperson.
Seigfried is expected to appear in court soon, facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The arrest comes amid growing concerns over the rise of drug-related offences in Zimbabwe, particularly among the youth.
Police have been urging communities to assist in the fight against substance abuse by reporting illegal drug activities.
Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and more arrests could follow as they continue their efforts to rid the country of illicit drugs.
