The Schwarzman Scholars programme is a pioneering international scholarship initiative, established to equip future global leaders with the skills and insights needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.
This fully funded, one-year master’s program takes place at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most highly regarded academic institutions.

Number of Awards:
Up to 200 candidates are chosen annually. Approximately 45% will be from the United States, 20% from China, and the remaining 35% from other countries worldwide.

The scholarship is open to applicants of all nationalities.
What the Scholarship Covers:
Selected scholars will receive a comprehensive package that includes:
- Full tuition and academic fees
- Room and board
- Round-trip travel to Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year
- An in-country educational tour
- Course materials and required supplies
- Health insurance
- A personal stipend for day-to-day expenses
Eligibility Criteria:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution is required. Current students must complete their undergraduate studies before August 1 of the enrolment year.
- Applicants from any field of study may apply but must clearly articulate how the programme supports their leadership development goals.
- Age Requirement: Candidates must be between 18 and 28 years old as of August 1 in the year they will begin the programme (i.e., born after August 1, 1997, and before August 1, 2008, for the 2026-2027 cohort).
- Language Proficiency: All courses are taught in English, so non-native speakers must provide valid scores from one of the following exams:
- TOEFL iBT (minimum score: 100)
- IELTS (minimum score: 7)
- Cambridge English (C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, minimum score: 185)
This requirement is waived for applicants who have studied for at least two years in an English-speaking institution or earned a graduate-level degree taught in English.

Applications must be submitted online. International candidates, including U.S. applicants, must complete their submissions by 10 September 2025 at 3 p.m. EDT.
Applicants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan have until 20 May 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CST to apply.
