Four suspects believed to be behind a series of violent robberies in Mhangura, Shamva, and Murewa have been arrested following a dramatic high-speed chase and police operation, ZRPĀ  confirmed.

Charles Dhokotera (42), Mayor Sibanda (34), Bothwell Kamwendo (40), and Trivolta Donald Matunhu (20) were taken into custody after their attempted escape from a robbery at Nyamuzara Business Centre in Murewa was thwarted by quick-thinking citizens and responsive police action.

The gang, dressed in camouflage and police uniforms and armed with three rifles, a pistol, and baton sticks, allegedly attacked a general dealer, his family, and bar patrons before fleeing with seven cellphones and US$1,300 in cash.

Members of the public teamed up with the victims, blocked the gang’s getaway car, a white Toyota Aqua (registration AGC 2677) and gave chase.
The vehicle eventually came to a halt due to a tyre puncture, leading to Dhokotera’s arrest.
