Chillmaster Escapes Jail, Sentenced to Community Service
Harare, Zimbabwe — Popular musician Chillmaster has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to charges of culpable homicide and driving without a license. The Mbare Magistrates’ Court handed down the sentence this week.
Magistrate Tatenda Mukurunge ordered Chillmaster to complete 420 hours of community service at Stoneridge Primary School. He was also fined US$200 for driving without a valid driver’s license.
The charges stem from a fatal road accident in which Chillmaster was found responsible. While details of the incident have not been made public, the court ruled that his actions amounted to culpable homicide.
In court, Chillmaster admitted guilt and expressed deep remorse.Before the verdict, he released a new song asking for mercy and guidance during what he described as “these dark times.”
