A violent incident near a river in Zwelisha, KwaZulu-Natal, has left one man dead and his cousin badly injured after they were reportedly assaulted and abandoned in nearby bushes.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene around 09:14, following reports of a possible assault.
Upon arrival, medics confirmed that one of the men had succumbed to his injuries, while the other, found semi-conscious, had already been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
According to RUSA, the deceased suffered severe trauma to the head, face, and upper body. Local residents identified the victims as cousins who lived together in the community.
The motive for the attack remains unknown, and authorities have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
