Afro-fusion artist Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora is now facing a warrant of arrest, issued nearly four months after a road accident in which he stands accused of negligent driving.
The incident occurred on January 1, 2025, in Harare at the intersection of Harare Drive and Borrowdale Road. Mbeu was reportedly driving a Toyota Aqua at the time of the crash, which involved another motorist, Patikayi Murisa, who was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 407.
Efforts to resolve the matter privately between the two parties had been ongoing since the accident, but Murisa claims that Mbeu has failed to engage in meaningful communication and has not fulfilled any commitments regarding compensation or vehicle repair.
“For the past five months, I’ve been trying to reach him with no success. He hasn’t been answering my calls,” said Murisa. “At first, I thought he would be cooperative, especially being a public figure. But it’s only now, after the warrant was issued, that he started responding.”
Murisa also revealed that Mbeu initially told police he was too ill to discuss the matter and later referred them to his wife, Faith Mashami. However, when Murisa reached out, Mashami allegedly stated she was no longer living with the musician.
In WhatsApp messages shared by Murisa, Mashami is seen advising him to contact Mbeu directly, distancing herself from the matter.
“I tried to be understanding and even expressed willingness to resolve the issue informally or with police mediation,” said Murisa. “But after months of silence and broken promises, I was left with no choice but to pursue legal channels.”
Murisa says his vehicle remains unrepaired and parked at home, despite previous assurances it would be fixed.
When contacted, Mbeu acknowledged the delay in addressing the issue and said he was now cooperating. “I know him, and we’ve arranged to meet on Thursday. We are in communication,” the “Mavanga” singer confirmed.
Following the accident, Mbeu posted on social media reflecting on the ordeal, calling it a life-changing moment. He expressed gratitude for surviving the crash and dedicated an emotional message to his child, vowing to emerge stronger.
