Ruwa businessman Joseph “Mutangazi” Mutangadura was shot dead by armed robbers at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse shortly after midnight, sources confirmed.
Mutangadura, who owned the well-known leisure spot Mutangadura Hideout, was reportedly attacked when the robbers stormed his property. Details of how the shooting unfolded remain limited, but those close to the scene said he died from gunshot wounds sustained during the raid.
The incident has left residents of Ruwa in shock, as Mutangadura was a prominent figure in the area both for his business and his role in the community. The Mutangadura Hideout, popular among locals and visitors, was considered one of the town’s most notable establishments.
Opposition politician Promise Mkwananzi expressed his condolences in a statement following the killing. “I am writing to express my profound sorrow upon learning of the passing of Joseph Mutangadura, also known as Mutangaz. Although I did not have the pleasure of a personal relationship, I was a consistent patron of his esteemed products. We extend our heartfelt condolences and wish him eternal peace,” he said.
Mkwananzi further highlighted concerns about rising crime. “This unfortunate event underscores the rising criminal activity within our nation, which has traditionally been known for its safety and security. My most recent purchase was on August 8, 2025. It is our hope that his business and legacy will continue to thrive,” he added.
Mutangadura’s death comes at a time when crime has been a growing concern in many communities, with residents increasingly calling for stronger measures to curb armed robberies and violent break-ins.
