Broadcaster and journalist Yvonne Mangunda has strongly denied claims made in another blog alleging that she once received financial assistance from Warriors striker Tino Kadewere.

In a statement on her Facebook page, Mangunda described the allegations as “potentially reputation damaging” and “an appalling amount of lying from a fellow journalist.” She said, “I have NEVER received a cent from Kadewere, something anyone can ask. What is bad is a fellow journalist coming out to say this, apa ndomuziva.”

Mangunda clarified that her only interactions with Kadewere involved football memorabilia. “When Tino received his first call up, he gave me a Djurgardens jersey to thank me because I had covered his journey when he was an unknown in Sweden. Years down the line, he gave a jersey that I gave away here on this page,” she explained.

She went on to emphasize that she does not take money to cover players. “I have NEVER received a cent from ANY player. Never. Handikumbire or kupihwa mari to cover a player. If I like a player’s play I post, post, post. Ask Chipezeze, Mapeza, Katsande, Antonio, some of my favourites, if they have ever bought me a sweet,” Mangunda said.

The journalist concluded by urging her colleague to stop spreading falsehoods, writing, “Iwe tokuziva ndiwe ani, stop lying blatantly. There are other ways yekutsvaga followers.”

This came after Warriors forward allegedly halted a training session at Orlando Stadium on Sunday after confronting journalist Yvonne Mangunda, accusing her of writing negative posts about him on Facebook. The incident happened as the national team prepared for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Witnesses said Kadewere poked and threatened Mangunda, telling her he would beat her up. The confrontation forced the Warriors’ training session to stop while officials intervened. Later, Kadewere apologized for his actions, saying he had reacted out of “emotion and anger.”

Team manager Clemence Matawu also issued an apology on behalf of the Warriors. “We are sorry for what happened today,” he said, adding that the focus now remained on the crucial match against Rwanda.
