Former top football official and international referee Andile “Ace” Ncobo, along with his wife, Salome Twaise Ncobo, is expected to appear today in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
The pair is facing serious allegations of fraud and money laundering linked to over R15 million in funds.
The case, investigated by the Hawks, involves money reportedly allocated for school infrastructure projects in the Eastern Cape. Authorities claim that instead of being used for their intended purpose, the funds were illicitly redirected into personal accounts controlled by the couple.
While full details of the alleged scheme have yet to emerge, prosecutors are anticipated to outline the charges during the court session. The matter has sparked widespread public interest, not only because of the high-value financial implications but also due to Ncobo’s well-known standing in South African football.
The hearing is scheduled for this morning, with both media and the public closely following the outcome. The defence has not yet released an official statement.
