Air Zimbabwe has opened international tenders for the disposal of two Boeing 777-200ER aircraft and for the appointment of service providers in South Africa, marking a significant move in restructuring efforts. The national airline made the announcement in a public notice under General Notice 1075 of 2025.

The two wide-body aircraft, stationed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare, are being offered in an “as is” condition. Interested bidders are expected to be registered with the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ). The tender process will close on 25th July 2025 at 1000 hours.

The Boeing 777-200ER planes were originally acquired from Malaysia in 2020 during a fleet recapitalisation drive under the Zimbabwe Airways banner. Following the reintegration of Zimbabwe Airways into Air Zimbabwe, the aircraft have remained mostly idle due to certification and financial hurdles, and have yet to enter commercial service.

In addition to the aircraft disposal, Air Zimbabwe is also seeking bids for two operational services in South Africa. These include ground handling services (Tender No. AIRZIM/IRFP/SA/GHAS/0002/2025) and a general sales and cargo agent (Tender No. AIRZIM/IRFP/SA/CARGO GSA/0003/2025), both of which also have a closing deadline of 25th July 2025 at 1000 hours.

Prospective bidders are advised to download detailed tender documents from both the Air Zimbabwe website (www.airzimbabwe.aero) and the PRAZ portal (https://egp.praz.org.zw). The documents include full instructions and service requirements for all listed tenders.
