The Portuguese coach endured yet another tough outing as his side suffered their eighth defeat in 12 league matches, with James Maddison’s early strike in the 13th minute securing Spurs’ victory.

United struggled once more, with Amorim facing a mounting injury crisis—12 first-team players were unavailable, forcing him to name a bench filled with academy prospects.

Since taking charge at Old Trafford, the 40-year-old has been candid in post-match interviews, and Sunday was no exception.

“I have many difficulties,” he told Sky Sports. “This job is incredibly tough, but I remain committed to my principles and will keep working to turn things around.”

Despite trailing for over 70 minutes, Amorim waited until stoppage time to make his only substitution, introducing 17-year-old Chido Obi.

With eight teenagers among the substitutes, he later explained that he was reluctant to bring them on too soon, as he didn’t want to negatively impact their growth.

“The Premier League is the toughest competition in the world,” he told BBC Sport.

“I’m trying to manage the young players carefully. I felt the team was pushing for an equaliser, and I didn’t want to disrupt that momentum. But their time will come.”

“My focus is on helping my players improve. I understand the challenges of my position, but I have confidence in my work and just want to win matches.

“My biggest concern is where we are in the table, not my own situation.”
