An arrest warrant has been issued for popular Afro-fusion musician Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora, four months after a road accident in Harare involving his Toyota Aqua and a Peugeot 407 driven by Patikayi Murisa. The crash, which occurred on New Year’s Day at the Harare Drive and Borrowdale Road intersection, has since led to a protracted dispute over alleged negligence.
Murisa alleges that Mbeu ignored all efforts to resolve the matter and avoided communication for months. “He hasn’t picked up my calls since the accident,” said Murisa. “As a public figure, I expected him to act responsibly.” Murisa claims Mbeu only reached out after the warrant was issued, requesting a meeting at Highlands Police Station.
According to Murisa, attempts to follow up were frustrated further when Mbeu initially claimed he was unwell and later referred him to his estranged wife, Faith Mashami. “She told me to contact him directly, but he remained unreachable,” Murisa explained. His car remains unrepaired as the dispute drags on.
Mbeu has acknowledged the delays and stated he’s now engaging with Murisa. In a reflective social media post, he described the crash as life-altering, saying he nearly died and is committed to making amends. “God gave me another chance,” he wrote. “I will rise again, even stronger.” The outcome of their anticipated meeting remains a matter of public interest.
