Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett made history by scoring the fastest Test century ever by a Zimbabwean player. The right-handed opener reached his hundred in just 97 balls during the ongoing one-off Test match against England at Trent Bridge.

The Test match began on May 23, with England choosing to bat first. Their top three batters—Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope—each scored centuries. Crawley hit 124, Duckett made 140, and Pope added an impressive 171 off 166 balls. Harry Brook also chipped in with 58 runs. England ended their innings on a high, declaring at 565 for 6.

Zimbabwe’s reply had a rocky start. Ben Curran was dismissed early, putting pressure on the team. But Brian Bennett stepped up with a remarkable innings. Showing great skill and patience, he led the fightback and brought up his century quickly, setting a new record for his country.

Bennett’s century also made him only the third Zimbabwean to score a Test hundred against England, and the first in 25 years to do so.

The match is still ongoing, with both teams showing strong performances. Fans are now watching closely to see if Zimbabwe can build on Bennett’s efforts and keep the contest alive.
