The Bulawayo Polytechnic has banned indecent wear on campus inorder to promote a moral culture among students. This comes after concerns over social decay and promiscuous behavior which parents and fellow stuff members pointed out during community engagements sessions .

In a statement the school says :

Please be advised that the following dressing is not recommended on Bulawayo Polytechnic Campus/Institution

  1. Ripped jeans.
  2. Sleeveless tops and dresses.
  3. String tops and string dresses.
  4. Blouses or tops that leave the stomach out.
  5. Off shoulder tops and dresses
  6. Tops and dresses that reveal breast cleavages.
  7. Tops and dresses that leave the back open (back outs).
  8. Biker and bum shorts.
  9. Skin tights and other tight fitting clothes.
  10. Skirts, shorts and dresses that are more than 5 centimeters above the knees.
  11. See through clothes.
  12. Dropping off of trousers and shorts.

Vents that are more than 5cm above the knee. If not properly dressed, the client shall be asked to correct before accessing any Bulawayo
Polytechnic facilities and services. As an Institution, we encourage you all to dress accordingly.

Whilst some has viewed this as a backward move that is not copying up with transcendent fashion and globalization some have imbraced this move. The students union is set to respond to these drastic measures.
