Gwanda, October 20 — Chief Marupi of Dibilashaba in Gwanda South has passed away at the age of 28, local authorities have confirmed. Gwanda district coordinator, Ms. Nomathemba Ndlovu, confirmed the tragic news, though details surrounding his death are yet to be disclosed.

Born Oaheng Nare, Chief Marupi was installed as chief in 2012 at the young age of 16, following the death of his father, Lawrence Marupi, in 2008. His leadership marked a continuation of the family’s traditional legacy in the region.

The late chief made headlines just last week after armed gunmen raided his home, stealing his official Isuzu vehicle and cash. No further updates on the robbery investigation have been provided.

The community has been left shocked by his sudden passing. Tributes continue to pour in for the young leader, who was widely respected across the district for his commitment to local development and preserving cultural traditions.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
