Sir Wicknell Chivayo has extended a significant gesture of support to veteran radio personality Simon “Pashoma” Ncube, who recently made a heartfelt plea for financial assistance. Ncube, a former ZBC Radio 2 icon, highlighted his dire financial struggles in a moving video that caught the attention of Chivayo.

Moved by Ncube’s plight and inspired by his acknowledgment of Zimbabwe’s leadership, Chivayo announced on social media that he will provide the former broadcaster with $20,000 in cash and a single-cab truck worth $15,000 to support his farming activities. Chivayo cited Ncube’s contributions to Zimbabwean radio, his challenging circumstances, and their shared connection to Chivhu as reasons for his decision.

In his statement, Chivayo expressed admiration for Ncube’s acknowledgment of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership and the impact of Zimbabwe’s land reform program. He also called attention to the hardships faced by retirees like Ncube due to economic challenges exacerbated by sanctions.

The donation will be facilitated through Chivayo’s lawyer, with Ncube expected to collect the funds and vehicle on Monday. Chivayo emphasized the importance of using the resources wisely to transform Ncube’s farming venture and secure a sustainable livelihood.
