Harare – Dairibord Zimbabwe (Private) Limited has confirmed receiving several customer complaints regarding its Yummy yoghurt product, which has reportedly been spoiling before its expiry date.
In a public notice issued this week, the company’s Quality Assurance team said it had launched an urgent investigation into the matter following reports from consumers who experienced premature spoilage of the product.
“Our Quality Assurance team has confirmed receipt of complaints of Yummy yoghurt product spoiling prematurely, resulting in an unacceptable product experience. This is under urgent investigation,” the statement read.
Dairibord, one of Zimbabwe’s leading dairy producers, acknowledged the inconvenience and disappointment caused to customers. The company apologised to affected consumers and urged those who had purchased the affected product to return it.
“We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and the disappointment this has caused to our loyal customers. The trust you place in the Dairibord brand is paramount,” the notice said.
Consumers who still have Yummy yoghurt in their possession have been advised to take the product back to the nearest Dairibord Sales Shop for replacement. The company assured the public that the issue is being treated as a priority to maintain product quality and consumer confidence.
While the company did not specify which batch or flavours were affected, the investigation is expected to determine the cause of the spoilage and whether it resulted from storage, distribution, or production challenges.
Industry observers say this incident highlights the importance of strong quality control systems in the food sector, especially for perishable goods such as dairy products. The company has maintained that its production standards remain aligned with national food safety regulations and that corrective measures will follow once the investigation is complete.
Dairibord has long been a household name in Zimbabwe, producing a wide range of dairy products including milk, yoghurt, ice cream, and beverages. The company’s swift public response has been seen as an effort to reassure consumers of its commitment to product safety and customer satisfaction.
