More than 30 individuals have lost their lives in a tragic bus accident on a mountainous route in Bolivia, according to police reports.

A local hospital official, speaking in a video statement, confirmed that 14 people sustained injuries, including four children.
Bolivia is known for its hazardous roads, especially in high-altitude areas.
The crash occurred on the route connecting the cities of Potosà and Oruro, law enforcement officials reported.

Investigators suspect excessive speed played a role in the accident, with the driver reportedly losing control of the vehicle, police colonel Victor Benavides told the AFP news agency.
This incident is considered the deadliest road crash in Bolivia so far this year.
According to local media outlet Unitel, several of the injured passengers remain in critical condition.
Fatal traffic collisions are a frequent occurrence in Bolivia.
Just last month, another bus accident near Potosà claimed the lives of 19 people.
Government statistics indicate that road accidents result in approximately 1,400 fatalities annually in the country, which has a population of around 12 million.
