Detective Tafadzwa Chidawa, widely known as Detective Kedha, became emotional in court while testifying for his defence, prompting the magistrate to temporarily halt proceedings.
Chidawa remains in remand prison after failing to appear in court for over a year, leading to the revocation of his bail.
He is facing fraud charges alongside Paradza Passmore Matubu, Perseverance Chisango, Malvern Mutanda, and Francis Takura.
However, Mutanda and Takura are still on the run.
The case revolves around Melody Matanhire, who was involved in a romantic relationship with Mutanda.

Mutanda, taking advantage of her trust, persuaded her that he had US$100,000 in tainted cash, which needed US$20,000 in clean bills for “processing.
” Believing his claims, Matanhire withdrew the funds from her home and accompanied him to Blue Ridge Lodge, where the supposed money-cleaning operation was set to take place.
Unbeknownst to Matanhire, Mutanda had conspired with Chidawa and the other accused individuals to orchestrate a scam. Upon her arrival at the lodge and after handing over the cash, the group staged a fake police raid.
Pretending to apprehend Mutanda, they seized the money and divided it among themselves.
The deception unravelled when Matanhire attempted to cover up the loss by faking a robbery.
Investigations led to the arrest of Mutanda, and detectives from CID Homicide managed to recover items he had purchased using the stolen funds.
