A tragic accident occurred at the Trabablas Interchange construction site in Harare on 6 January 2025, claiming the life of a worker. The incident happened during the dismantling of a static tower crane. Tefoma Construction, the company overseeing the project, confirmed that a mechanical failure caused the collapse of both the tower crane and a mobile crane used in the operation.

The worker who lost their life was employed by Manzlink, a specialist rigging subcontractor hired by Tefoma. In a statement, Tefoma expressed deep sorrow, offering condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues. The company assured the public that it is cooperating with authorities to investigate the cause of the mechanical failure.

Tefoma has pledged to support the victim’s family and is working with Manzlink to provide all necessary assistance during this difficult time. “We are committed to offering full support to the family and ensuring their needs are met,” the statement read.

Safety remains a top priority for Tefoma, and the company emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards across all its projects. Further updates about the investigation and any additional measures will be provided in due course.
