Scholarship Benefits:

  • Monthly stipend of up to €992
  • Coverage of health insurance costs
  • An additional €160 per month for scholarship holders with children
  • Financial support for study or research stays abroad, including travel expenses, tuition fees, and international health insurance for up to 12 months

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Sociopolitical Engagement: Applicants should have demonstrated commitment to social or political causes, such as active participation in student councils, youth organisations, NGOs, or political groups aligned with the values of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.
  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must have strong academic records and should demonstrate critical thinking, political awareness, and self-reflection.
  • Language Requirements: International students must have sufficient knowledge of the German language, as the programme requires communication in German.
  • Previous Enrolment in German Universities: Individuals who have already studied at a German university are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s applicants: Must have confirmation of acceptance or enrolment at a state-recognised German university or technical college.

  • Master’s programmes: 30 November (winter semester) and 31 May (summer semester)
  • Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister, State Examination: Can apply after the first semester and up to three semesters before the end of their course.
  • PhD applicants: Can apply up to two years before their dissertation submission.
