KAMPALA – Gospel musician Musabyimana Gloriose, popularly known as Gogo, has died in Uganda at the age of 36. Her death occurred in Kampala and was confirmed on the morning of September 4, 2025.

The news was confirmed by Bikem wa Yesu, who managed Gogo’s media and promotional affairs. In a social media post, Bikem wrote: “R.I.P Gogo, what terrible news! God, strengthen my heart.”

Gogo had traveled to Uganda for a series of performances. Among them was a scheduled concert at Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s church. Bikem, who accompanied her, said she had been in Uganda since August 28, after leaving Rwanda with her team to attend revival events in Mbarara.

The revival meetings, which ran from August 29 to 31, 2025, were followed by Gogo’s journey to Kampala, where she was due to meet representatives of a company she was set to promote.

Shortly after arriving in Kampala, Gogo fell ill. At first, those close to her thought the illness was minor, given that she had a pre-existing heart condition. However, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she was rushed to Kyegera Doctors Center. She passed away upon arrival.

Gogo was known across Rwanda and beyond for her worship and praise music, which touched audiences with its message of faith. Her breakout song, “Every day, I Need Blood of Jesus,” gained wide recognition and helped establish her career. She later followed it with other hits, including “Uwo Mwana.”

Her music not only inspired worship but also carried educational messages. Many of her fans praised her ability to combine strong vocals with messages of hope and guidance.

Born in 1989 in Rwamagana, Eastern Province, Gogo grew up as a member of the Anglican Church. She lost both of her parents at a young age, a personal tragedy that many say influenced her devotion to faith and music.

Her final social media post included the message “Goodbye, I going,” which fans have now interpreted as a painful farewell. Many have described it as an unintentional but heartwarming global goodbye.

Tributes continue to pour in from Rwanda, Uganda, and other parts of Africa where Gogo’s music had a strong following. Fans and fellow artists have expressed shock at the sudden loss of a singer whose career was still on the rise.
