Popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere has finally addressed the reasons behind his separation from his wife, Dorcas Vambe, also known as Mai Dhuterere, who is currently eight months pregnant.
The singer recently made headlines when reports surfaced that he had abandoned his heavily pregnant wife and their four children.
According to close sources, the couple’s marriage had been facing difficulties for some time, though Mai Dhuterere attempted to keep their issues private in order to maintain their public image.
It is alleged that Mambo Dhuterere’s behaviour changed dramatically when he learnt that his wife was expecting their fifth child.
The gospel star reportedly packed his bags, including his travel documents, and left without informing anyone of his whereabouts.
Sources claim that he even expressed his belief that his wife was a source of bad luck, particularly after he failed to secure a car from businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
Breaking his silence, Mambo Dhuterere shared his perspective in a video posted by socialite Joey Nyikadzino. He explained that his wife’s tendency to criticise people who wanted to help him had led to missed financial opportunities.
“Sometimes, a wife can discourage those who genuinely want to support her husband. These people would come with good intentions, but she would sometimes discourage them with harsh words.
This behaviour caused some to back out from offering help. You’d notice that those who tried to assist would eventually disappear, especially after receiving negative feedback from her,” Mambo Dhuterere stated.
The gospel musician’s comments shed light on the tensions within their marriage and his reasoning for leaving.
