Harare, September 2, 2025 – The Government has disbursed ZWG 147,682,500 to the two main political parties, Zanu PF and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), under the Political Parties (Finance) Act, according to General Notice 1829 published this Tuesday by Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi in an Extraordinary Government Gazette.
Zanu PF received ZWG 102,343,972, corresponding to its share of 69.3 percent of the vote in the 2023 general election. Meanwhile, the CCC was allocated ZWG 45,338,527, representing the 30.7 percent of votes it garnered in the same election.
The disbursement follows the stipulations of the Political Parties (Finance) Act, which prescribes that state funds should be distributed to qualifying political parties based on the proportion of votes received in national elections.
Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi formalised the allocations through the Extraordinary Government Gazette issued on Tuesday, though the exact date of issuance was not detailed beyond “this Tuesday”; the article confirming the story is dated September 2, 2025.
The Herald’s report conveys the figures precisely: Zanu PF’s share of ZWG 102,343,972 aligns with its 69.3% vote count, while CCC’s ZWG 45,338,527 corresponds directly with its 30.7% vote tally.
This allocation contrasts with previous disbursements under the same Act. Notably, earlier in 2023, under General Notice 1153, Zanu PF and the Movement for Democratic Change-Alliance (MDC-Alliance) received a combined ZWL 1 billion, apportioned according to that year’s general vote percentages: approximately ZWL 700.3 million to Zanu PF and ZWL 299.7 million to MDC-Alliance.
Observers of Zimbabwean political finance may note that the current disbursement marks the first such public allocation to CCC rather than MDC-Alliance, reflecting changes in the political landscape between the 2023 election and prior cycles.
