The Government of Zimbabwe has announced that it will strictly enforce the Reserved Sector provisions under the Indigenisation Law to promote local economic empowerment.
According to a statement released by @ZimTreasury yesterday, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that specific industries are reserved exclusively for local citizens. These sectors include transportation services such as passenger buses, taxis, and car hire, as well as retail and wholesale businesses.
Other reserved industries include barber shops, hairdressing and beauty salons, employment and estate agencies, valet services, grain milling, bakeries, and tobacco grading and packaging.
Additionally, the government’s directive covers advertising agencies, the provision and distribution of local arts and crafts, and artisanal mining. By enforcing these regulations, authorities aim to protect local entrepreneurs from foreign competition, allowing them to establish and expand their businesses in key industries
