What began as a high profile Premier Soccer League debut for Scottland FC is quickly descending into disarray. Despite flashy signings like Khama Billiat and Walter Musona, and massive social media hype, internal tensions fueled by executive interference, low player morale, and controversial contract dealings are now threatening to derail the Mabvuku based side’s momentum.
Club owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, once hailed for his ambitious vision, is now at the centre of growing unrest. Sources claim head coach Tonderai Ndiraya is regularly pressured to field players handpicked by the boss, compromising tactical decisions. Following a loss to Ngezi Platinum, Sakupwanya publicly blasted the team, further undermining the dressing room. One insider described the atmosphere as “a nightmare for the technical bench.”
Matters worsened when Sakupwanya used the success of his Division One side to mock Scottland, saying, “Maybe I gave the wrong team the name Scottland.” Rather than rallying the squad, the comments deepened the divide. Behind the scenes, contract irregularities and stalled loan moves like Tymon Mvula’s delayed switch to Yadah have only added to the off pitch chaos.
There are now serious allegations of forged contracts and financial mismanagement. Some players reportedly signed only one copy of their deals, with the rest falsified to inflate salaries presented to the owner. With monthly wage obligations nearing US$120,000, insiders warn Sakupwanya could be unknowingly bankrolling a corrupt system draining club funds.
The cracks are already showing. Respected media officer Thulani Sibanda resigned this week, blindsiding executives who only found out via social media. With key staff rumoured to be next, and whispers about Ndiraya’s job security growing, Scottland’s season is on the brink. Until the boardroom is cleaned up, their football ambitions may remain nothing more than a social media fantasy
