Journalist Hopewell Chin, ono has taken another direction in his philanthropic work. He has been providing free information services and advertising space for many Zimbabweans online. This time around he has moved into the medical space.

In a post on twitter he announced:

Very soon, we will be rolling out a medical project with Dr. Nyasha Maboreke, who will provide free specialist consultation to poor old people.

We will start with 10 patients a week while we sort out the logistics for accommodating a larger number each week.
The start date is 1 September.

Dr. Maboreke will offer free specialist consultations, and in the interim, the families of the patients will cover the cost of medication.
However, we eventually plan to cover even the medication costs.

The goal is for Dr. Maboreke to lead a team of specialist doctors who will eventually visit communities offering a service that is out of reach for many of our old people.
This will be done one step at a time until we reach the desired optimum level.

This will be incorporated into the Diaspora group once it has been set up and is operational.

I will provide more details on how these patients will be vetted to avoid people who can afford taking advantage of this programme.
