Mazowe, Zimbabwe – In a chilling discovery, the Mashonaland Central Police are investigating the unearthing of human remains believed to belong to seven individuals at Elvingz Mine, located on Makalanga Farm in Mazowe. The remains were discovered by a mine excavator during routine operations.

The grim find included bones, torn clothing, and black plastic bags buried approximately 30 meters deep. Authorities recovered ten pairs of trousers with bones inside, suggesting that the bodies were disposed of intact. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the bones had lost their original shape.

Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha, the deputy provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the discovery and stated that the remains were found amid debris at the top of a mountain where open-cast mining is conducted. The police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Forensic experts from CID Bindura are working to establish the number of victims, the period of death, and the probable cause of death. The remains have been transported to Parirenyatwa Hospital for further examination.
