The Minister of Local Government and Public Works has issued a notice of intention to remove human remains, memorials, and monuments in the Mount Hampden area. This decision has been made to pave the way for the establishment of the Cyber City, a significant development project aimed at transforming the area into a hub for technology and innovation.
The proposed removal of human remains, memorials, and monuments is a necessary step to clear the land for the construction of the Cyber City. However, the Minister recognizes the potential impact on families and communities who may have sentimental attachments to the affected sites. Therefore, a three-month window has been provided for anyone wishing to object to the proposed action to submit their concerns in writing.
Objections must be lodged in writing to the Minister of Local Government and Public Works at the Makombe Building, Corner Herbert Chitepo Avenue and Leopold Takawira Street, Harare, within three months of the publication of this notice. The Minister will consider all objections received during this period before making a final decision on the proposed removal of human remains, memorials, and monuments in the Mount Hampden area.
