Marvelous Nakamba has left Luton Town after the club confirmed that a mutual agreement had been reached to terminate the Zimbabwe midfielder’s contract with immediate effect. The decision brings an end to Nakamba’s three-year spell at Kenilworth Road, during which he made 61 appearances for the Hatters.
Nakamba first joined Luton on loan from Aston Villa in the January transfer window of the 2022/23 season. He went on to make 20 appearances as the club secured promotion to the Premier League. His contribution to that campaign included scoring a penalty in the play-off final shoot-out win over Coventry City at Wembley, a moment remembered by supporters.
The midfielder made 23 appearances for Luton during the 2023/24 season and featured four times in the current campaign before his departure. His time at the club was affected by injury, but he remained part of the squad during that period.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet said: “Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion. He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury.” He added that Nakamba would always be welcome at the club and wished him well for the future.
