UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo who revealed that the government would not let him wear a Zimbabwean flag on his kids has lashed out again at minister Kirsty Coventry for delaying the whole process.

Gorimbo wrote in his message:

Only way i can have Zimbabwe flag currently is this way.
Every other athlete in ufc has their country flag on their fight gear accept me because ( I DONT KNOW )
The so called Zim MMA board & SRC want me to bow down to get my flag on my kit.

I stand by my country and love every single development happening in my country. The roads are beautiful, things are changing but only one thing.Sports is dying because we have the worst sports minister who let her family run the department and her meetings are run by her husband.

UZA president Elisabeth Valerio also commented on the issue of sports representation in a message she said:

How did we even get to this point where, as a nation, our stadiums don’t meet the basic standards of #soccer governing bodies like #CAF and #FIFA? The ban on #ZIFA was lifted.. but now our stadiums get banned. Will #Zimbabwe ever have both?

We used to be a #soccer powerhouse. We had the dream team. We were #COSAFA champions – we even caused upsets at #AFCON. Our nation has hosted major teams from #Brazil, #Nigeria and #Egypt among others. #Barbourfields and #Rufaro used to host international matches. Minister Kirsty Coventry is not doing enough. We need real action, timeframes and quantitative progress reports. We must do better..

This issue has caused a raging debate online. Social commentator Paul Mchemwa also shared his perspectives by saying:

This Zimbabwean fighter was struggling with life like every Zimbabwean a few months ago before @TheRock bailed him out.

Nothing changed ever since and it’s only his life that has changed.

Now he is talking about development, things changing and roads being beautiful

Sad!!!!!!! People from a privileged position always speak nonsense and forget about how the masses they left behind are suffering

@TheRock gave you that opportunity so that you can represent many suffering Zimbabweans who were once in your situation
He didn’t do that so that it’s only you who gets up and starts laughing at other Zimbabweans failing to make ends meet because of the poor and crippled economic situation in our motherland

We all love Zimbabwe
But Zimbabweans are suffering
