HARARE – The 11-month-old baby from Budiriro 5, who had been missing since Saturday, has been found and reunited with family, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the ZRP announced the safe recovery of the infant and the child’s return to the parents. No further details were given regarding the condition of the baby or the circumstances of the recovery.
The infant had been missing since Saturday following an alleged abduction by a woman identified only as “Chihera.” Authorities reported that the suspect remained unidentified at the time of the disappearance.
During an interview with ZBC News, the baby’s mother, Future Bonga, explained that the suspected kidnapper was a known face in the community and a regular customer at their tuck shop. The family had last seen the woman on the day of the alleged abduction.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing. No arrests had been confirmed by the time of publication.
