Mutare based gospel artist Teq Niq has openly claimed that there is nothing wrong with smoking and drinking when you are a Christian in an exclusive interview with Diamond fm
Teq Niq who recently lost his father shared about his upbringing and how he converted to Christianity and saw nothing wrong with leaving some of the habits in the secular world . John came and was not eating or drinking and the people called him a mad man , but Jesus came and drank wine and was eating but they called him a gluttony he said
Teq Niq who has featured with many other popular artists like Tehn Diamond in the Zimbabwean music industry described his restoration journey as one of the most important aspects of his life. He explained that people judge him without information about his life story but the bible reccomends us to give thanks in wine and not be drunk by it.
These claims have been refuted by other gospel collegues who feel that the message is not correct and should be addressed. One of the gospel artists described these claims by Teq Niq as heresy and that the holy spirit encourages us to be pure before God and not engage in toxicating elements.
Teq also said there is nothing wrong about not belonging to a fellowship gathering and worship from anywhere , a claim contrary to the beliefs of many Christians that we should not forsake the gathering of saints. He said the gathering can be anywhere but one pastor from Christ Ministries explained that God is everywhere but is not manifested everywhere and there are certain places that he shows himself.
These teachings from Teq Niq have raised a lot of questions especially on drinking and smoking as many Chrstians struggle with these two things. The problem comes from the desire of not wanting to let go of those habits but embracing and defending them.
