Three years after the tragic accident that claimed his life and the lives of Moana and two others, the name of flamboyant socialite and businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure continues to dominate headlines.
Currently, Ginimbi’s opulent mansion is at the center of a dispute, with the issue revolving around the land on which it was built. This comes after his sister and heir, Nelia Kadungure, was summoned to a Chief’s Court over unpaid dues for the property.
Ginimbi is reported to have purchased the land for US$13,000. However, by the time of his untimely death on November 8, 2020, he had only paid US$4,000. The original owners of the land now assert that the remaining balance is still owed.
Dadirai Nhau, the daughter of Shanda Kibiti Matope, who sold the land to Ginimbi, revealed in court that she was present when the transaction took place. She also mentioned that despite numerous requests, Nelia has been avoiding settling the outstanding payment, particularly since her father, Matope, is currently unwell.
The situation took a turn when Nelia was unable to attend the court session due to health reasons, resulting in the case being postponed. Although the owners have reportedly lost the documentary evidence of the sale, they maintain that the village head, Sabhuku Kadyausavi, witnessed the original transaction.
