In an effort to strengthen its technological capabilities and stay aligned with global trends in telecommunications, a top-tier delegation from NetOne, Zimbabwe’s leading mobile network provider, recently travelled to Barcelona, Spain.

The visit focused on key objectives, including network expansion, modernisation, 5G deployment, knowledge sharing, and cybersecurity enhancements. This initiative underscores NetOne’s dedication to improving service delivery and supporting Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy (NDS1).

Leading the delegation was NetOne’s Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, who emphasised the significance of the visit in driving the company’s long-term vision. “This mission is crucial in our pursuit of sustainable growth and technological advancement.

Our goal is to align our operations with international standards, ensuring we exceed customer expectations,” he stated. He also reaffirmed NetOne’s commitment to NDS1, which aims to stimulate economic growth and modernisation across different sectors in Zimbabwe.

Accompanying the CEO were key executives, including Chief Commercial Officer Mr Learnmore Musunda, who focused on strategies to enhance sales, customer satisfaction, and overall service efficiency.

This visit has provided us with essential insights into refining our commercial strategies to better serve the market,” Mr Musunda explained.

Chief Technology Officer Mr Christopher Muchechemera and his team also participated, concentrating on advancing network modernisation and integrating 5G technology, a game changer for Zimbabwe’s telecommunications landscape.

“5G is the future of connectivity, and we are committed to bringing this transformative technology to Zimbabwe. The visit enabled us to explore cutting-edge solutions that will modernise our network infrastructure, delivering faster and more reliable services,” Mr Muchechemera stated.

Additionally, Mr Joseph Machiva, General Manager of OneMoney, NetOne’s mobile money platform, joined the delegation, highlighting the company’s commitment to financial technology integration.

“OneMoney plays a vital role in driving financial inclusion across Zimbabwe. This trip provided valuable perspectives on how we can further refine our platform to better meet customer needs,” Mr Machiva noted.

Barcelona, recognised as a global technology and innovation hub, offered NetOne’s team the opportunity to engage with industry experts and explore emerging trends in telecommunications.

Through high-level meetings and specialised workshops, the delegation gained deeper insights into network expansion strategies, cybersecurity measures, and 5G implementation. These learnings are expected to shape NetOne’s future growth trajectory.
