Harare – Nine women appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court after being accused of breaking the law by advertising massage and intimate services on social media.
In Zimbabwe, the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act makes it illegal to advertise intimate services. But recently, many women have started using platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp to promote such services.
A video from the court showed the women covering their faces and crying. Some people who saw the video believe the women were asking for sympathy and hoping for a lighter punishment.
The case has caused debate online, with some people saying the women should be given help instead of jail time, while others say the law must be followed.
The court is still looking into the matter.
