President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed his commitment to adhering to Zimbabwe’s Constitution, assuring citizens that he has no intention of extending his tenure beyond the legal term limits.
During a discussion with media editors at State House in Harare on Monday, Mnangagwa dismissed speculation about seeking to prolong his presidency.
“I will operate within the boundaries set by the Constitution,” he stated, emphasising his administration’s adherence to the democratic principles outlined in the nation’s supreme law.
His remarks come amid ongoing political discourse regarding succession within the ruling ZANU-PF party. With his current term set to end in 2028, some analysts have speculated about potential amendments that could extend his rule.

However, his latest assurances suggest that he intends to step down as required by law.
