Paseka Mboro is seen threatening people he held hostage with cutlasses.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the South African-based pastor is seen fuming at some people whom he held behind bars in a building believed to be his.
Among the people held was a little girl, whom the public said had been traumatised by the sad event
The pastor also had a huge man by his side, who was with a gun.
South Africans who have seen the video expressed their anger at the pastor’s behaviour.
“He will get arrested and his congregants will be outside the court every court blaming satan and people who are trying to destroy him,” a user wrote.
“The videos are confusing! Is he holding them hostage or freeing them? Which is which?” another sought clarity
Addressing the issue outside the police station, Mboro said that he had gone to the school to get his grandchildren, whom he said were his son’s children.
“This kids mother died and I buried her using my money, but their maternal grandmother is refusing my son his kids. The school principal is also refusing me the kids; she is supporting the grandmother,” he said. He added, “My son raised those kids for seven years until they took them away after the funeral.
The reason they took them away from us is because they want my money. They are using the kids to milk money from me. My son was here on Friday and they assaulted him. I am helping him to get his kids back,” he added. Mboro showed a video of his son’s face badly scarred and swollen.
MEC for Education in Gauteng Matome Chiloane condemned the incident and said that according to a preliminary report at their disposal, a conflict between two families over the custody of the boy learners enrolled at the school in Grade RR and Grade 2 has been escalating.
“It is said that the mother of the children passed away in April this year, leading to a dispute between the paternal and maternal sides of the family. The deputy principal and some staff members refused to release the children without the grandmother’s permission.
This led to the pastor arriving at the school with bodyguards and weapons,” Chiloane said. He said the matter has been reported to the police and that psycho-social support will be deployed for the affected teachers and learners to help them cope with the trauma resulting from this incident
