Harare—Prominent religious leader Prophet Miracle Paul has initiated legal action against journalist and social media personality Zigo over comments made in a TikTok video on April 5, 2024. The prophet, through his legal representatives at L.T. Muringani Law Practice, demanded an immediate retraction, an apology, and damages amounting to $100,000. Zigo did not comply and this resulted in the issue going to court.
According to a legal letter dated May 23, 2024, Zigo allegedly stated in his TikTok video discussion that Prophet Miracle Paul was “not a true prophet.” The remarks, the letter claims, implied that the religious leader was a fraud and a deceptive figure operating under false pretenses. The lawyers argue that this statement is defamatory and has damaged the reputation of their client, who boasts over three million followers worldwide.
The letter further asserts that the comments were “false, defamatory, and an unfair attack” meant to malign Prophet Miracle Paul for the journalist’s own gain. It also alleges that the video’s purpose was to generate engagement, possibly for monetization, at the expense of the prophet’s credibility.
Prophet Miracle Paul, known for his philanthropic work and positive relations with journalists, podcasters, and the religious community, believes the accusations have harmed his standing among his followers and affected his mission. The legal representatives have given Zigo 24 hours to delete the post and issue a formal apology on his TikTok page.
They also warned him that Failure to comply, ,would result in a defamation lawsuit seeking $100,000 in damages. Additionally, the legal team threatened to report the video to TikTok and involve law enforcement over what they describe as “abuse of cyberspace.”
