Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bodyguards reportedly carried a special “poop suitcase” to collect his faecal waste during his summit with former US President Donald Trump in Alaska , according to reports.
The unusual security measure is said to be aimed at preventing foreign powers from obtaining sensitive information about Putin’s health. The Express reported that “Putin’s bodyguards collect his faecal waste and bring it back to Russia when the leader travels abroad,” citing investigative journalists Regis Gente and Mikhail Rubin.
The journalists alleged that members of the Russian President’s Federal Protection Service (FPS) are tasked with storing his waste in sealed bags and transporting it in dedicated briefcases.
According to the same report, this practice has been in place for years. During Putin’s 2017 visit to France, similar measures were said to have been used. Former BBC journalist Farida Rustamova also reported that the Russian leader took similar precautions during a trip to Vienna, where he reportedly used a portable toilet.
Rustamova added that a source confirmed the method has been in place since Putin first assumed power in 1999.
Speculation about the 72-year-old president’s health has circulated for years. During a press conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, in November 2023, Putin was observed jerking his legs, raising public concern.
Medical experts have also weighed in on his condition. Dr Bob Berookhim suggested that Putin’s leg movements could be linked to a neurological disorder such as Parkinson’s disease, according to The Express US.
Putin was also seen twitching while meeting Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko in 2023. Additional claims cited by The Express suggested he may have previously suffered a cardiac arrest that required intensive care at his official residence.
The latest “poop suitcase” reports emerged as Putin met Trump in Alaska for peace talks over the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
