Zimbabwe cricket T20i format captain Sikander Raza has been nominated for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award. He has been nominated alongside A known danger man from India in Suryakumar Yadav , a versatile New Zealand all-rounder in Marrk Chapman , and a key performer from Uganda Alpesh Ramjani

Raza was phenomenal in 2023 despite the Chevrons failing to qulify for the T20 World Cup which is going to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States. His success was also evident in franchise cricket as he won the PSL with the Lahore Qalanders in Pakistan and made a debut in the IPL with the Punjab Kings. He also has played in Dubai , West Indies , Bangladesh among other leagues.

Zimbabwe cricket has suffered many setbacks but Raza has been the backbone behind the success of the team , he has won many individual accolades and finished the year with the most player of the match awards in this format surpassing the great Virat Kohli to finish with 9. He was the first Zimbabwean to take a hatrick in t20i games when he did so in Namibia. He also added by scoring the highest t20i score in the history of Zimbabwean cricket which was 82 runs in a series against Namibia.

The Zimbabwean cricket board was impressed by this amazing milsetone by Raza and gave him US$10 000 as an appreciation to his work ethic and dedication to the team . Despite playing a lot of franchise cricket Raza has always been available for nationla duty and has made sure that he delivers as expected.

To put the cherry on the cake , he was appointed captain of the Zimbabwe t20i team towards the Africa Qualifies.
