William Sachiti, born in May 1984 in Harare, Zimbabwe, is a remarkable entrepreneur and inventor who has made significant contributions to the field of autonomous technology.
In 2009, Sachiti appeared on the BBC investment program “Dragons’ Den,” seeking investment for his company, Clever Bins. The company manufactured solar-powered digital advertising bins for public spaces. Although the Dragons did not invest, Clever Bins continued trading and secured partnerships with Keep Britain Tidy and local councils in Manchester and London.
In 2011, Sachiti co-founded mycityvenue, a digital concierge service. The venture operated briefly before being acquired by SecretEscapes in 2014. While studying at Aberystwyth University, Sachiti and a fellow student developed a prototype robot to navigate users around the university library. This project led to the creation of Kar-go, an autonomous delivery vehicle designed to solve the last-mile delivery problem. Kar-go was later developed in collaboration with Pilgrim Motorsports and was revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2019.
Sachiti founded the Academy of Robotics, an autonomous technology company. The company’s flagship product, Kar-go, represents a groundbreaking achievement in self-driving vehicles. It has gained approval for use on British roads and competes with multinational giants like Google and Tesla.
In early 2022, Sachiti purchased the former RAF base, RAF Neatishead, and moved onto the site in Norfolk. William Sachiti’s journey exemplifies innovation, determination, and resilience. His contributions to self-driving technology and road maintenance solutions have left a lasting impact on the industry. As a Zimbabwean-born entrepreneur making waves in the UK, Sachiti continues to inspire others with his vision and achievements
