Former Norton legaslator Themba Mliswa has been appointed as the new head man of his home village. In a post he wrote:
Ichoo ndicho! Mochikorokotedza muchida musingade. Chibhuru Sabhuku. This is a position passed down in the family lineage for years from my grandfather Peter Sixpence Mliswa to my father and vazukuru vekwaDziva who kept it going.
Now that I’m no longer time pressed with politics I will keep the family name and tradition going. This is for my Dad who always said the Mliswa line will never die out. I will keep it going. You don’t get elected for this but it’s a blood-line issue
I’m excited to take up this role& bring development to my village. As traditional leaders we are not allowed to be partisan so I will abide by that. I invite you all to Mliswa village, Shurugwi & its great people. We shall be a model village leading development from the bottom.
On the 10th of February I will invite people to the village ceremony. Much respect to Chief Banga (centre) here& my muzukuru who served well as the interim. The salary I’m supposed to get will still be going to her. She needs it more. Mine is to lead development of the village.
His succesor in Nortin Hon Richard Tsvangirayi wrote : Congratulations to my predecessor, Temba Mliswa, for being appointed village head for mliswa village. It’s about time that we have progressive people as village heads. I wish you well in your new role @TembaMliswa
